Art is a means of expressing my feelings, thoughts about the world and life. I create something every day, striving to perfect my skills as a painter and a sculptor. At the present time I am enjoying creating figurative clay sculpture from a live model. As I work I like to add imaginative elements combining animal or nature forms to construct a story around the figure. Similarly I add collage and paint imaginative elements to my acrylic paintings to add layers of narrative. When a live model is not available to paint, I thumb through the New York Times for inspiration, creating an imaginative story from the photographs and stories. My abstract works are painted freely without preparation. I begin with one shape or line and it becomes an adventure in color and space. I create art to make me happy. I wish to convey to the viewer the good and wonderful things in life. Nature, people and the curious objects I find, give my life meaning and provide inspiration for my creations.
