Jessica Dalrymple
Jessica Dalrymple was born and raised in Bedford Hills, NY. She studied Fine Art at Hamilton College and trained as a painter at The Art Student’s League of New York and The Corcorran School of Art. She also studied with landscape painters in rural locations. She now lives in Jersey City and maintains her studio in Greenwich Village. She divides her time painting both urban and rural subject matter. Some of her favorite painting sites are right out her door; the tree lined blocks of the Village, Hudson River views, and industrial zones of Jersey City. Her favorite rural sites include the Hudson River Valley, the Catskills, and the farms of upstate New York. In these environments she’s alert to moments when light, color, texture, and form align in a way that speak to her. She paints en plein air (in the open air) as a means to capture those moments and develops these compositions further in the studio. Lately, she finds inspiration from the way nature and man-made structures intersect and overlap. Whether it is how a barn leans into a hill, a road winds through a farm, or a bridge stretches across a river.
